Ling Nan

A late-night Melbourne institution, now on Lonsdale Street.

Ling Nan

Melburnians mourned the loss of Chinatown favourite Ling Nan when it closed in 2020 after three decades of nourishing late-night revellers and shift workers alike. But it wasn’t the end for the CBD institution, which reopened on Lonsdale Street in late 2021.

Food comes out quickly, and the menu is broad so there’s always something new to try – that is, if you can go past your own favourites. Chefs love salted fish, chicken fried rice, stuffed pig intestines, and crispy chicken. But one non-negotiable is the pipis stir-fried with XO sauce, with a side of the crisp and doughnut-like youtiao.
