Bar Taralli

Italian$$

Founded by former Scopri and La Vetta chef Salvatore Giorgio, Bar Taralli is now under new ownership, but its southern Italian DNA remains (with a touch of Sicilian flair). While some familiar dishes dot the menu, regional specialties reign. A contemporary take on Sicily’s beccafico sardine dish sees battered and fried sardines stuffed with chardonnay whipped ricotta and served over ’nduja mayo.

Some enduring instant classics from Giorgio’s menu include scialatielli, a short pasta with a noodle-like shape from the Amalfi Coast, served with the best seafood that day. And Pugliese bombette are “little bombs” of pork scotch stuffed with caciocavallo cheese, wrapped in pancetta and cooked over charcoal – a little like a mini porchetta.
