Federal Doma Cafe

Federal Doma Cafe

Japanese$

A rustic cafe in Byron’s hinterland for Japanese-Australian sushi and sashimi.

Blue ocean cracker and kingfish carpaccio sashimi salad.

Founded by two Japanese chefs, Doma began as a farmers’ market stall but eventually evolved into one of the main drawcards in Federal, a town of just 800 in the hinterland, best known for being the closest pitstop before or after a hike to Minyon Falls.

Breakfast runs the gamut from classics to Japanese rice bowls, while lunchtimes sees the counter flush with sushi and nigiri, offered alongside burgers and a chirashi bowl, loaded with a selection of the day’s sashimi plus shallots, cucumber, ginger, wakame and edamame.

Grab takeaway, or perch under umbrellas out the back among wandering chickens and raised beds.
