That's it for today...

So, if you didn't hear - Germany are OUT of the World Cup. The reigning champions took on South Korea needing a win to advance, but were upset to the tune of a 2-0 win to the Asian nation, meaning Australia was the only AFC team not to grab a win at the World Cup.

Mexico will be thanking their lucky stars for that result - they advanced instead of Germany but would have been left on the outer after being smashed by Sweden, 3-0. It would have been so cruel on the Mexicans who won their first two games and would have become the first team since the 1950s to win their first two games and not advance to the knockout rounds.

Sweden will now play Switzerland and Brazil take on Mexico.

Full Time: Brazil 2, Serbia 0, Switzerland 2, Costa Rica 2

No late drama in the Brazil match as the Selecao comfortably go through in the end.

A late penalty/own goal means Switzerland finish on five points, but had they won 2-1 they'd have finished second behind Brazil on goal difference anyway.

Serbia and Costa Rica go home and Brazil have set up a mouth-watering clash with Mexico in the last 16.

It does go in - but it'll be an own goal!

So unlucky for Sommer - not sure how that's been credited to Ruiz for now but it will surely go down as an own goal.

He smashes the spot kick into the crossbar, the keeper guessed the right way but the ball bounces off the woodwork, into the back of Sommer and then into the net. Desperately unlucky for him, but either way it's going to finish 2-2.

But now they do have a penalty!

Well what about that - less than two minutes after the first penalty is overturned, they do have one.

Lovely run down the left by Joel Campbell who is clattered from behind by Denis Zakaria, and this one won't be overturned.

Again it doesn't mean anything for the group, but if Ruiz can slot this home they'll at least come away from the tournament with a point.

Costa Rica have a penalty but it's overturned by VAR!

Perfect use of the technology here - a long ball is flicked on into the area and Bryan Ruiz gets on the end of it before being hacked down...but the replay shows that he was offside when the header came in.

No arguments about the foul, but the offside comes first and Switzerland survive.

Switzerland re-take the lead!!

Classy finish from Josip Drmic - the sweeping cross comes in from the right, all the way across the face of goal and meets the substitute striker on the far stick who sidefoots a lovely finish past the keeper.

It's not a meaningful goal, but it puts them back in front - either way they're locked into second in this group unless they score again and Serbia pinch a consolation.

86 minutes gone, 2-0 Brazil, 1-1 in the other game

Nice save by Stojkovic to deny Neymar - the ball deflects out to the world's highest-paid player but he tries to chip it over the keeper and he gets a hand up well to slap it away.

Serbia still pushing, but Mitrovic has yet another shot come to nothing as effort from near the penalty spot is blocked.

What has been a wild night of football is going to end with a whimper rather than a bang, I'm afraid.

Unless Serbia score three goals in the next ten minutes we are the top two in Group E that we expected - Brazil first, Switzerland second.

I'm a big fan of this, though.

Switzerland not doing a whole lot, nor do they have any motivation to do so. They're going to be going through in second place barring an incredible reversal of results.

A powerful strike from Felipe Luis nearly yields a third, but its straight at the keeper and parried.

Goal for Thiago Silva, game over!

A thumping header from a corner and that will be enough for Brazil. Great delivery from Neymar to the front post and he loses Nikola Milenkovic before steering a free header into the net.

Brazil are through, and unless things rapidly change they will top the group with Switzerland second.
