Blues women win dour clash to complete historic whitewash of Queensland

Full-time: After a scrappy clash that definitely won’t go down as one of the classics, the Blues win 12-4. Yet another simple handling error 30 seconds before full-time summed up the Maroons’ night.

60 min: The Maroons have been their own worst enemy tonight, completing at just 43 per cent! Dreadful. But somehow they’re still a chance to win this match.

49 min: Queensland are penalised for being offside near their posts after a mix-up between two Maroons players results in a spilt bomb. Southwell lands the simple kick to put the Blues back in front. Blues 6-4

40 mins: The first five minutes of this half won’t make any highlight reels. Poor passing and catching from both sides.

With one unconverted try each, it’s 4-all at half-time. NSW should be leading by 10 points or more, but the Maroons have done well to stay in the game. It’s been a fairly dour first 35 minutes, but this awesome Victor Radley-style tackle was my personal highlight.

31 min: Jasmine Peters, the player denied a potentially match-winning try in the last minute of Origin II, makes no mistake on this occasion to level the scores. Brown misses the kick. 4-4
