‘Excuse my language’: Pies skipper speaks after late free kick and draw

Collingwood skipper Darcy Moore has spoken after a nail-biting final few minutes.

Moore dropped an intercept mark attempt in the dying seconds of the final quarter and tackled his Hawks opponent Dylan Moore high, resulting in a free kick.

When asked how he was feeling, Moore was honest.

“Yeah f--k, sorry, excuse my language,” he said on Fox Footy. “Yeah, feels pretty raw mate, we did so much right to win that game and get the four points, and instead we walk away with two. That’s footy sometimes.

“It stings mate, but a lot to like out of that game.”

Moore said he was proud of his group and asked if he would have preferred extra time over a draw, he said, “Ask the fans”.

Remember when we mentioned that a trainer had fallen down mid-match? It was actually one of Hawthorn’s physios.

Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell admitted he didn’t know to describe his emotions after tonight’s draw.

“I’m unsure how to feel. To me, that’s one of the beauties of sport, I know there’s a lot of talk about the draw and playing extra time ... I think we would have won if we had it, I’m sure Craig would have said the same,” he said during a post-match press conference.

Mitchell noted the Hawks “couldn’t find a way to score” and commended Collingwood for making the most of their chances.

Mitchell did not share McRae’s more positive, “glass half full” attitude on the draw.

“The glass is exactly in the middle … which is why it’s a difficult feeling,” he said.
