Indigenous champion Nicky Winmar has expressed pride in Jamarra Ugle-Hagan’s decision to tackle racism head-on.
The 20-year-old Western Bulldogs forward made a powerful stand on Thursday night, replicating Winmar’s iconic gesture when he lifted his jumper and pointed to his skin.
The remarkable moment at Marvel Stadium came just five days after Ugle-Hagan was racially abused during and after a match at the same venue.
It was almost 30 years to the day since Winmar famously stood up to racial abuse from Collingwood supporters at Victoria Park in April 1993.
The Adelaide Crows have stunned the Port Adelaide Power to beat them by 31 points in tonight’s match at Adelaide Oval.
Riley Thilthorpe stepped up for the Crows kicking five goals and star recruit Izak Rankine kicked four goals in a memorable win by the Crows.
Port Adelaide wore their prison bars for the first time in a Showdown and they look terribly disappointed.

They came hard and we went back at them so it’s a special night for the football club, we try to prepare like with any other game but deep down we knew it wasn’t just like any other game. It’s good to see all the Saints fans up and about. They haven’t had a lot to cheer for for a lot of years so it’s exciting to get a win for them.
Plenty to cheer about tonight but, as you mentioned, the 150th paying homage to the past, present and future of this footy club, makes it even more special.
