Teen, woman stabbed before house set alight in alleged domestic violence attack
A teenage boy is in a critical condition in hospital after he was stabbed, and a house set alight, in an alleged domestic violence attack over the weekend.
A 50-year-old man allegedly stabbed the 15-year-old boy and a 40-year-old woman during an altercation at a property in the Ipswich suburb of Raceview about 4.30pm on Saturday.
The man then allegedly set fire to the house.
The boy suffered severe wounds to his abdomen and was taken to the Queensland Children’s Hospital where he remained in a critical condition on Monday.
The woman suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds to her chest and hands and was taken in a stable condition to the Mater Hospital.
Police believe the three people were known to each other.
“The man was arrested shortly after police arrived on scene and he has been charged with two counts of attempt to murder (domestic violence offence) and one count of arson (domestic violence offence),” police said.
He was due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
