Bus hits pedestrian in CBD, man fighting for life
A man is fighting for life after being hit by a bus in the Brisbane CBD.
The crash occurred about 9.20pm on Saturday at the intersection of George Street and Turbot Street near the Magistrate’s Court building.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Police confirmed on Sunday morning they were investigating the crash, and had spoken to the bus driver.
They called for anyone who saw the collision or had footage from the area to come forward.
The road had been cleared and there was no evidence of the crash remaining on Sunday morning.
Brisbane has been rocked by several tragic council bus-related incidents in recent years, including the Edward Street crash that killed 18-year-old Tia Cameron in March 2024 and later, in June that year, when a 44-year-old man died after being hit by a bus on Melbourne Street in South Brisbane.
Greenslopes man Max McDowall, 20, died after his bike collided with a bus at the intersection of Gillingham and O’Keefe Streets at Woolloongabba in May 2021. In 2018, 51-year-old mother-of-two Ann-Marie Stent was killed after she was struck by a bus on Ann Street.
