Matthew Perry’s possessions for sale – including a bizarre mask
Several of Matthew Perry’s personal items have been put up for auction, including a Nintendo games console, his leather wallet and an unusual “Mattman” mask of his face.
The actor, known for playing Chandler Bing in the TV series Friends, died in October 2023 at the age of 54 following a ketamine overdose.
Executors of his estate have put a total of 129 lots up for auction, including scripts from Friends, musical instruments, personalised sports attire and Batman-themed items.
Among the listings is a custom-fitted black Batman mask, nicknamed “Mattman”, which was created for a Jimmy Kimmel Live! episode in 2016.
Scripts from the pilot episode of Friends and the penultimate episode in the series, signed by the main members of the cast, are up for auction, while Perry’s black leather wallet with multiple cards, his Motorola digital phone, and a 2001 Nintendo GameCube console are also on sale.
Proceeds from the auction will go to the Matthew Perry Foundation, launched after his death to support people suffering from substance abuse and reduce the stigma around addictions.
Banksy artwork, such as Girl with Balloon, is also going on sale alongside other paintings and drawings owned by Perry, as well as several suits and accessories.
“It’s a combination of all kinds of things from the actor’s lifetime,” said Roberta Kramer of Heritage Auctions, the auctioneers handling the sale.
“Things relating to his work on Friends and other television shows and films, but all the way from childhood to adulthood.”
Replicas of the props from the set of Friends are also on sale, such as the butter-yellow peephole frame used in Monica Geller’s apartment.
Last week, a judge in Los Angeles sentenced Erik Fleming, a licensed drug addiction counsellor, to two years in prison for his role in Perry’s death.
Fleming, 56, had delivered the actor the bags of ketamine that killed him. He had pleaded guilty in 2024 to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, and one count of distribution resulting in death.
Fleming is one of five people, including doctors and Perry’s assistant, who supplied the actor with ketamine. US prosecutors said they exploited his decades-long drug addiction for profit.
